I haven’t posted in a while, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy! To get myself through the soul-suck that is winter, I turned to baking and decorating cupcakes. They’re easy enough to make, I can use bright and fun colors, and everyone loves to eat them. It’s a win for all! My cupcake Instagrams caught a friend’s eye and she asked me to make cupcakes for her friend’s bridal shower and bachelorette party. This was a great opportunity to try out some new stuff and finally learn how to use those fancy piping tools I bought over winter. I didn’t just want to display the cupcakes on a plate (yaaaawn), so I took to Google. That’s where I learned about basket bouquets (tutorial here).
All of the tutorials I found said to stick the cupcake on the foam before piping the frosting, but I chose to add the cupcakes after piping the frosting. I had to make the cupcakes the day beforeachieve maximum freshness, so I decided to finish the cupcakes, stick them in a container, and add them to the basket the next day. It worked out just fine and I didn’t have issues with frosting getting in the way. I made sure to make the buttercream frosting thick/stiff enough to prevent it from running or being easily aggravated by touch.
Anyhoo, here’s the final product!
