Ah, the Los Angeles Flower District. So vibrant, so pretty, so cheap! When most people think of flowers, they’re likely thinking of your usual suspects, like roses and sunflowers. Those are great n’ all, but lately I’ve been really into succulents. They’re easy to take care of, require very little water, and look sleek in any space. Whenever I’m in LA I head down to the LA Flower District and pick up a few new succulents to take back to DC. My go-to is Costar Orchids & Tropicals on San Pedro Street, but the block is lined with many other options. Every time I walk into that place I stop and have a “WHOA” moment.
The lucky ones above are coming home with moi. You can’t just buy a plant, you have to buy four or five out of principle. They’re only a buck or two each! Then you have to get something to put them in or on; the LA Flower District has you covered there too. Here are a few, super reasonably priced finds. Yup, and I ended up with yet another piece of wood – only two bucks!
Yet another fulfilling trip to the Flower District in the books! I’ll make sure to show you what I do with my new succulents. But, time to give some flowers some love. Here are a bunch I walked by on my way to grab a bacon-wrapped hot dog. If you’ve never been to the Flower District, imagine it as the picture below times 10,000.
